Most common eye diseases.

Cataracts
Cataracts are the most widespread cause of blindness around the globe. This condition develops when the eye’s natural lens becomes clouded, resulting in foggy or dull vision. Although cataracts tend to progress slowly and are more frequent with aging, younger individuals can also be affected. The condition often makes everyday activities like reading or driving difficult. Fortunately, cataract surgery—a routine and effective procedure—can restore clear vision by replacing the cloudy lens with an artificial one.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a group of eye disorders that harm the optic nerve, often due to increased pressure inside the eye. It tends to develop gradually and is often symptom-free in its early stages, which is why many people don't realize they have it until it causes noticeable vision loss. If left untreated, glaucoma can result in permanent damage, especially to side or peripheral vision. Ongoing eye checkups are essential to catch the condition early and manage it through medications, laser procedures, or surgery.

Diabetic Retinopathy
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)AMD is a leading vision disorder among people over 65, primarily affecting the central portion of the retina known as the macula. This area is responsible for the ability to see fine detail directly in front of us. While AMD doesn’t result in total blindness, it significantly reduces the ability to read, recognize faces, or perform tasks requiring sharp central vision. Though there’s no cure, early detection and treatments like specialized injections or laser therapy can help preserve vision and slow the disease’s progression.

Common vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism fall under the category of refractive errors. Though they don’t cause blindness on their own, when left uncorrected, they can significantly reduce a person’s ability to see clearly and impact daily life. These conditions are easily correctable with prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses, or vision correction procedures like LASIK. Increasing access to basic vision care is one of the most effective ways to combat avoidable visual impairment.
Uncorrected Refractive Errors
Keratoconijunctivitis Sicca
A common condition where the eyes don’t produce enough tears or the right type of tears to stay properly lubricated. This can cause symptoms like burning, redness, irritation, a gritty or scratchy feeling, and sometimes blurry vision. It can result from aging, environmental factors like wind or screen use, certain medications, or underlying medical conditions such as autoimmune disorders.
